I’m Just a Full-Fledged Baker Now


Last you heard from me, I had just successfully made my first loaf of plain white bread. Well, today I have some new for you! I’ve now successfully made:

Another perfect loaf of white bread (same recipe but better than the first, tbh)
Pretzel bread
Cinnamon Swirl Bread


More big news: the last two items were made completely with whole wheat flour. Which, honestly, wasn’t as big of a deal as either of us thought it would be. I was expecting a texture or proofing change, but I just swapped out whole wheat flour for the white flour 100% and things turned out perfectly! The cinnamon swirl bread recipe that I used was from The Pioneer Woman’s blog and it was over complicated and her blog is annoying, but the bread actually turned out to be so delicious that we had it for breakfast all week.

On my bread baking horizon? Chocolate Swirl Babka, Barm Brack, French Bread Rolls, and Garlic Cheddar Beer Bread.

  1. Alright, so I have a plan. Come up to the house and bake something with me. I have a ‘Proof’ setting on my oven that I’ve never used and what better way to break it in than to bake it in. See what I did there? I’ll be looking forward to your email telling me when you’ll be arriving. Hell, you can even bring Christie along.

    • Done. We just started watching the Great British Bake Off and they have special drawers for it! But, they call it a ‘proving’ drawer so you can expect that I will be calling your oven the same.
